G Marine, “The European Yacht Boutique,” now located in Fort Lauderdale, returns to Yachts Miami Beach at Dock A3 /9 – A29 / 32 (across from the Fountainebleau Hotel) with 10 yachts from the Spanish shipyard, Astondoa, the UK’s Fairline Yachts, and Italian EVO Yachts. A new Astondoa 66 GLX will be featured while Fairline will show a new 53 Squadron, both making their American debuts in Miami.
Demonstrating the versatility of its 100-year old custom shipyard, Astondoa will show the variations available in 65′ with three models-each totally different in design, concept, owner and yacht profile. “Most boat builders create a mold for a particular model, then vary aspects of the deck to build a new boat,” explains G Marine COO David Galante, “Astondoa creates a completely distinct hull, tailored for individual uses and owners. It will be eye-opening for buyers to see how much boat and how many boating lifestyles they can get in 65 feet.”
The 66 GLX brings a new dimension to the range. The 66 GLX was designed for the boater who wants to grow from 40-50′ to include more guests while still enjoying the option to captain his own boat. For longer or larger trips, crew quarters for 2 are provided which can also double as a guest cabin while the owner has the helm. The 66 GLX can fit on most backyard docks and suits the needs of a single captain or owner-operator.
With 4 staterooms and 3 heads, the 66 GLX can easily cruise and overnight in pure comfort. A swim platform big enough for a tender, PWC or paddleboards, and generous sun pads also make it an ideal day boat for shorter watersports excursions. The flybridge with a BBQ grill, bar and room for a group of friends and family-as well as storage of water toys and gear makes this boat feel like a bigger yacht.
All furnishings are designed and built at Astilleros Astondoa, utilising top technology along with fine craftsmanship and materials, customized to the finest detail. The 66 GTX is powered by CAT C-18 2X1150 for a top speed of 33 knots and cruising speed of 25-26 knots.
Launched at the company’s 100th anniversary celebration in Santa Pola, Spain last summer, this 655 Coupe express yacht “expresses” the vision of the Astondoa design group. Its distinguished inverted delta bow and angular side windows create an eye-catching profile. Multiple sun pads and seating options offer outdoor entertainment amenities while huge windows brighten the cockpit and salon.
Cristiano Gatto’s interior designs provide the Astondoa signature level of quality and style. Sliding glass doors open to the protected aft deck and recede into the engine room below. Comfortable settees complement a large raised sun pad and transom doors provide side water access. “Wings” on the port and starboard transom open out creating space for additional sunning or cozy cocktails at sunset.
The teak deck flooring is replicated below deck in hardwood for the galley and staterooms. Leather is generously used throughout. Mirrors and carbon fiber accents in cabinetry are duplicated in the head where Italian marble and a smoked glass door add luxurious touches. The VIP queen has its own head and two twins are also en suite, with one serving as a day head.
65 Top Deck
The Top Deck model fulfilled another vision for a boat owner who wanted a “floating island” with room for all-and all their toys. Astondoa took on the challenge with original designs created by Luiz deBasto. The new family-friendly 65 Top Deck expands the footprint and square footage of the upper deck and swim platform with hinged wings that open easily, creating a 270 square feet beach club and an over 1345 square foot deck, with room for:
Many people-8 on the sunbathing foredeck; 12 seated at the top deck table, 6 seated at the bar; with many more playing on the swim platform.
Many toys – Personal Watercraft or 14′ tender, paddleboards, sea bobs, snorkel and dive gear-all stored in the spacious garage – which also houses laundry facilities and has room for added crew quarters.
Entertainment options – Galley/TV lounge, bar, BBQ grill and big screen retractable TV on deck provide fun for all.
Returning from FLIBS
The success of the 80 GLX prompted its return to Miami with a new model debuted at the 2016 FLIBS. Since Astondoa is dedicated to creating truly bespoke yachts that reflect the boating preferences and personal style of each owner, the most recent 80 GLX features a roomy flybridge and interior with warm colors, textures and materials. The hard top color combination can be customized to suit each yacht and this GLX features white and metallic gray.
Following its heralded introduction in 2016, The Century 110 will return as an example of Astondoa’s larger range. Cristiano Gatto created bright, easy maintenance interiors to suit the outdoor lifestyle of this owner, including the Sky Lounge, voluminous sun pads, multiple bars and customized bow garage for two PWCs.
Showing newly revamped construction and design of the Squadron 53, influenced by Italian designer Alberto Mancini, Fairline joins G Marine at slips A 03-06. This new flybridge yacht is juxtaposed to the Targa 53 and two 48s–a Targa Open and a Squadron Flybridge. “Similar to Astondoa, Fairline is showing the diversity of its 53 and 48 models,” states Galante, “With the racy looking Targa express cruiser and the Squadron flybridge, we strive to find the right boat to fit the boating style of the customer-we do have the variety to accomplish that goal and now Fairline offers more options for customization as well.” he adds.
Alongside with this new 53 Squadron model, Fairline will launch a limited edition 50th anniversary commemorative book and a 50th Anniversary video, Golden Moments, as well as an immersive virtual reality experience bringing to life its highly anticipated Targa 63 GTO, due out this summer.
The design expertise of Italian superyacht designer, Alberto Mancini, is seen in Fairline’s new Squadron 53. Based on the existing 53′ hull, this new version was designed from the deck upward by Mancini, showcasing Fairline’s future direction, blending tradition with technology and updated styling.
A spacious main deck with a flat floor from the cockpit to the lower helm ensures a flat ceiling in the master cabin and generous 6′ 4″ headroom at the foot of the double bed. New layout configurations provide complete flexibility, including three or four cabins and multiple galley locations from the main deck, forward, aft or below deck. New foredeck seating was also added.
Handcrafted to order by Fairline’s experienced and dedicated craftsmen in Oundle, England, the new Squadron 53 offers control from the sleek flybridge or interior cockpit as well as great entertaining spaces.
“The Squadron 53 is the first Fairline yacht to have touches of Italian design and features subtle Mancini influences, which have evolved Fairline’s time-proven design DNA to create a model that blends beauty, form and function. With the Squadron 53, owners receive unrivalled flexibility in layout and complete comfort and luxury in its construction and features,” says Andrew Pope, Fairline Head of Design.
Targa 53 GT
The Targa 53 GT is a sporty Grand Turismo model with hard, retractable roof. The mid-ship master cabin is located aft of a forward, double guest cabin starboard and a versatile twin cabin to port. The cockpit and salon offers the choices in seating configuration. The glass entrance from the salon to the aft deck delivers an ideal alfresco dining experience to complement the main galley below. The boat features molded-in steps to the submersible swim platform providing water access with ease and safety.
Fairline’s Targa 53 GT offers several power: choose one of three shaft-driven engine power levels or for stable docking or a smoother ride, choose a gyroscopic system and a proportional bow and stern thrusters. A naturally lit crew cabin is an added option.
On the Squadron 48 an expansive flybridge offers a large seating area, centered around a dining table that can be lowered to convert into a sun pad, providing an exhilarating ride for passengers. Forward-facing seats alongside the upper helm bring passengers and captain together to enjoy the power of the twin Volvo Penta IPS 600s.
The optional submersible swim platform also accommodates a jet tender. Stairs lead to a large salon which features relaxed seating areas to port and starboard. The naturally illuminated upper galley makes entertainment easy and three cabins below deck provide comfortable accommodations. The Squadron 48 offers an additional option of a dinette in place of the third cabin/crew quarters, and an on deck BBQ.
Targa 48 Open
The Targa 48 Open has a standard, electric retractable canvas roof that gives this express yacht an open-air feel while the cockpit invites socializing with a bright and welcoming salon, dinette and galley. The express cruiser comfortably sleeps up to 7, providing ample space to entertain more with configurations for t
wo or three cabins or a double en-suite model. The Targa 48 OPEN also offers spacious sociable on deck, a garage for a jet tender and the option of a submersible hydraulic swim platform. Twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines (with 700’s soon to be an option) with joystick control offer speed of over 30 knots and expert handling.
The EVO 43’s impressive “wing span” provides considerable additional space for open air and water enjoyment. As a crossover yacht/performance boat, the EVO 43 features an expanded aft deck and swim platform, creating a sexy, cruising beach club. EVO Yachts, based in Naples, Italy, recently selected G Marine as its Florida, Mexico and Caribbean dealer as the company is dedicated to customer service and appreciates the design details and see South Florida as an ideal showcase for this unusual yacht.
The boat can cruise “open” at slow speeds so the traveling beach club can enjoy a changing view and on-water location, adding to the fun for passengers or spectators. With options for colors and modular seating arrangements the EVO also offers lounge chairs that recede into the teak floor and cushions, which can double as seats or floating lounges. Below-deck, an air conditioned berth and mini-galley, accessed by clear stairs, offers a high-tech atmosphere for lounging, preparing food and beverages or a quiet respite. A full head and shower add comfort and convenience and the option for an overnight stay on the water if desired.
